• A new direction

• Black SMS founded as a company

  In 2016, with Apple's release of the iMessage app store and support for extensions that would run directly on top of iMessage, the app was updated to send secure, self-destructing messages with our signature black bubbles directly within the iMessage app. It was at this time that our founder dropped out of Stanford to pursue his vision full-time.

• A high school side project

  The app that started it all. Our young founder, Tyler, released a standalone iOS app that allowed users to password-protect their text messages. The app eventually received thousands of downloads, achieving the top 10 social networking apps on the app store, and was featured on TechCrunch, Business Insider, and Mashable
